Many people drink coffee to stay awake and get more things done. But how can you get more things done if you’re waiting around for your coffee to brew. Sure, you can go and buy a cup of coffee but at some point, you are going to want a cup at home. With a coffee pod maker, you’re only 30 seconds away from a good cup of coffee.

Senseo was one of the first coffee pod makers available. Having sold more than 10 million units in four years, Senseo is definitely here to stay. A Senseo coffee pod looks like a round tea bag. It works like this.Senseo Coffee Pod Image 01

  1. Fill the coffee maker with water.
  2. Open the lid.
  3. Place a coffee pod in the receptacle.
  4. Close the lid.
  5. Press the button.

Thirty seconds later you have a good cup of coffee. Senseo is a patented method. It uses a special spray head, with mild pressure to balance the ratio of coffee to water. Designed to create a rich frothy cup of coffee. Don’t forget to empty and rinse the drip tray.

Nespresso is another great pod style coffee. With plenty of different strengths, flavors and de-caff options. We have all seen a Nespresso ad somewhere, at some point with George Clooney sipping a nice coffee. The Nespresso is also a patented method. It uses a specific designed pod, the pod is pierced at both ends once it is loaded into the machine. When the button is pressed hot water is forced through the coffee inside the pod, to extract the coffee oils. This is similar to the espresso method only on a smaller scale.Nespresso Coffee Pod image 01

  1. Fill the coffee maker with water.
  2. Open the lever.
  3. Load the coffee pod into the machine.
  4. Close the lever.
  5. Press the desired button.

Thirty seconds later you have a good cup of coffee. Once finished open the lever and the pod drops down into the waste basket, ready for the next pod. Nespresso also creates a rich frothy espresso style coffee. Don’t forget to empty and rinse the drip tray.

If you’re looking for great tasting coffee that is convenient, time saving and no mess, then try pod coffee. Coffee pods are available in different strengths including: dark roast, medium roast and mild roast. You can usually buy a package of 72 coffee pods for less than twenty dollars. Since you can also buy a 33 oz can of pre-ground coffee for about five to 10 dollars at the supermarket, coffee pods are a bit more expensive. That 33 oz can will definitely contain a lot more than 72 cups of coffee. But remember you’re paying for a fast, no mess, no measuring, easy clean-up, cup of coffee. For some people that is money well spent.

Clean-up is a breeze, just discard the pod. Since the coffee grinds are contained in the pod (instead of a filter), there is less chance of spilling them all over your bench-top. The pod holder on the Senseo is even dishwasher safe. The Nespresso is rinse with hot water. With no pod in the machine, simply press one of the buttons to flush hot water through the machine. Don’t forget to empty and rinse the drip tray on either of the pod machines.

Other reasons to buy a coffee pod machine, is that they look great. They are small (in comparison to an espresso machine), sleek, stylish and will look good in any kitchen. Personally, I use a Nespresso pod machine for my night time coffee, using de-caff pods. This gives me a good, quick, no mess, no fuss night time coffee without the caffeine. This helps me get a better night’s sleep.

Coffee isn’t just for breakfast anymore, it’s an all-day love affair that keeps on giving. If you are after convenience, coffee pods can be a lifesaver as part of your daily routine?
